I have a switchback dragon 600 with the cleanfire motor. There is an SLP can on it, Just the can, no pipe. I rode 300 mi this past weekend and just had it serviced at a local dealer and after an hour of riding the sled was backfiring when decelerating. I put new plugs in and i use 93 octane fuel. What could be the problem? Problem with EFI? Someone let me know please!!

Thank you

do you have the ethanol wires connected or disconneted? I was running 93 this weekend and it ran bad with the wires disconnected and great connected.
Just a thought I am new to the injected things sooo it is really just a guess

had a 2010 600 Rush that did the same thing right out of the box. When slowing or stopping it backfired. Took it back to the dealer, they did a re-flash on the ECU, end of problem.

I had the same problem with my 2010 Rush right out of the box, backfired when slowing or stopping, took it back to the dealer and they did a re-flash, I think there was a service bulliten on this.

The reflash could be the problem, but how would it get out of sync in the first place?

Where the different pipes connect may be leaking. Take your exhaust apart and RTV where they connect to make sure they are sealed. They can get unsealed just from sitting and possibly when you put the new can on it.

Run a bottle of isopropyl through it first.

My 09 600 did same thing and (multiple) dealers says it is caused by moisture in fuel tank. (I immediately called BS but one bottle of iso in the tank and sure enough problem cleared
right up) I found it necessary to run one bottle every 2-3 tanks. I think it has something to do with condensation on the aluminum fuel rail...at least that's how dealer explained it.

Make sure your running non-ethynol premium with iso

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! the Reflash and the ethanol/non-ethanol wires sound like a probable cause. i did check the exhaust all the way through and there were no leaks and i sealed it with exhaust silicone. I also thought maybe there was water in the fuel and i tried that but still had backfiring problems. I will give these options a try! Thanks guys!
