2011 Polaris IQ LXT 2-Up Carbides

Finally wore down the stock 4" enough to replace them. It has always cornered poorly - especially with 2 people on it. Limiter straps and suspension are adjusted and the track is not studded. Should I go with a 6" or jump right to the 8"? Bergstrom's aren't an option due to time.

Thanks a lot.

Andy,

I have a 2010 IQ Tour two up. The original skis were supposed to be dual runner skis. My bud who worked at the place I bought it said I needed to get rid of those as ice accumulates between the dual runners.
We installed a pair of brand new take off single runner skis and installed a set of Stud Boy 6 inch (I think, I know they are not 4") dual carbide on single host bar runners. They work pretty well.
The sled still pushes in the corners with just me if I'm moving out, , I really have to get forward to get the skis to bight in and not too heavy on the gas. I also have my front springs turned all the way up.

Innitially steering on my sled REALLY SUCKED with me and a rider. Then I learned that my sled had the stock smaller torsion springs in the skid, .405" diameter.
I ordered the bigger springs from Polaris, .421" diameter, and also installed a set of X-Click suspension blocks from Driven Products Inc. I purchesed the X-Clicks through SLP.
The X-Clicks have 4 adjustment settings instead of 3, and the highest adjustment setting is higher than the stock. I haven't had to go past the 2nd adjsutment now having the bigger torsion springs.
The bigger torsion springs also helped out the poor steering when there are two people on the sled. The back doesn't sag so much anymore therefor keeping more pressure on the skis.

Good Luck

Got talked into Woody's Dooleys last night. Dealer told me the steel on them would save the plastic ski and correct the cornering. I'll report back.

Thanks.

my wife rode a 2007 600IQ Touring for 5 years. We always had our kids on back till they were 12, so nobody really big. The first thing I noticed was the polaris duel runners were out so wide that the middle of the ski..(plastic) was wearing out and yes it pushed big time. Not really a problem because we really werent' push in the speed with the kids on back in the twisty trails. I put on Woody's 6 inch dooley's on after the second year and the machine steered and drove 100% better. The weight of the machine is now right on the dooley not on the plastic keel. Your dealer "steered" you in the right direction you won't be disapointed.

Your dealer is wrong, I had woody's dooleys they great in straight or easy turns, but in snow conditions they push like crazy. Work good in icey conditions, good luck with your purchase.

It's a two up machine..of course it will push in snow conditions. It is a groomed trail machine for 2 people. Let's see how he likes it. Better than before I am guesing.

So I put the Woody's on Sun. morning and took the sled out on the lake (SE WI) Minimal snow and lots of frozen ruts and rough ice. The only rider was myself. The sled cornered great - both on the ice and snow where I found some deeper pockets. I was worried because I had to drrill new holes in the skis. I thought everything was great.

Fast forward to loading the sled up. I have a two place tilt Triton. While running the sled up the ski hooked on the trailer lip and came to a very abrupt hault. Upon inspection the front of the woody came out of the ski where I drilled one of the new holes. There must have been just enough hanging out that it cought the trailer and bent the carbide straight down until the first bolt when everything came to a hault.

I must not have drilled the firts mounting hole back far enought to avoid it from popping out - or I hit a chunck of something just right to band the ski back far enough for the front to pop out. I'm leaning toward poor installation. However, I'm putting new "regular" 8" carbides on and could really care less about the ski wearing as I already have 2,000 mi on the machine and there is hardly any wear on it now. I will be putting in heavier springs in the rear too.

Love your honesty Andy..The new regular bar will still save your ski because it will bolt to the center of the ski. Grind the trailer edge at a45 and you shouldn't have that problem again.

Thank you. Took the carbide back to the dealer last night - along with one of the skis. I didn't push the front "point" into the ski enough.
