Had to do the first oil change on my wife's 2013 AC turbo. Everything was going good until I saw where the oil filter was. After trying a few different things I had to resort to the manual for any help I could get. No help there, all they said is that the oil filter was accessible through an opening in the front. They were right, it is, just no room to turn a oil filter wrench. Then I decided to go on-line and see if there was info from what other people are doing. It seems like most people are taking off the front intercooler. Not wanting to mess around with loosing antifreeze all over, I needed another option. I decided to make a "socket" and attach a few extensions to reach the filter. Finally success!!!! I'm not sure if there is something already out there like this for a filter this small ( I know you can buy one for automotive filters), but this really made the job a lot easier.

My friend, I love your tenacity and persistence ....but someone should tell you that the frequency of oil filter changes are far and few between. Someone should also tell you that the inner cooler doesn't have coolant in it and disconnects rather easily. But now that you have designed your own tool I would spread the word and sell them for $11.95 each. After twenty years you will re-coop your investment.

Thanks for the lesson. This is the first turbo anything that I have worked on, and I am embarrassed that I thought the inner cooler had antifreeze in it. Now knowing the inner of the inner cooler, I would still remove the filter the same way...
Let there be no doubt, I was not trying to sell anything. I was 99.9% sure there was a filter cap wrench out there. I only put this thread out to try and help other people that might have the same problem.

fleet farm carries at least 15 different sizes of filter sockets, I had the same issue on my atv so i just took the filter to fleet farm and matched it up to the socket filter and life is wonderful. Mine fits on a 3/8 socket and looks like the above picture. I,m thinking it was around $10.00 or so. Hope this helps out
