2018 Ice Coverage and LES Projection?

John, was wondering what your forecast is for the ice coverage on lake superior and when/if it will shut down the LES for the UP for the rest of this year?

I see your location is closing in on 200 inches for the year and am wondering when/if the LES machine will start dwindling the amount of snow for they year.

Hi Andy.

Other than the bays and some shore ice, Lake Superior is still pretty wide open. Unless we get into a brutally cold spell that lasts for 6+ days in a row, I don't think that will change too much. It's a big, deep lake and "prefers" to stay open and only gets enough ice on it to significantly impact LES development in the coldest of winters.
