3 Old Guys; Daily Update

For those that don't follow Facebook, here's the first and hopefully many updates on their trek across North America in the coming days and weeks.

The route?!?!
One of the most common questions we’ve received is about the route that the 3 Old Guys intend to take on their expedition east. To some degree, we’ve been intentionally quiet on this topic… route planning has been in the works for well over a year, but given the unpredictable snow conditions, the actual trek remains flexible and will adapt as needed, so we’ve avoided publishing an official map.
Rest assured, there’s a plan, a backup plan, and backups to those backups. That said, here’s a general idea of where the 3 Old Guys expect to travel: The team will set out from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, traveling through Wisconsin and following along the southern shore of Lake Superior. From there, they’ll cross into Ontario, continue through Quebec, and—if all goes according to plan—follow the Gulf to Labrador before taking the ferry to Newfoundland.
The ultimate goal? To journey as far east across North America as possible! Ideally, they’ll reach the coast, and Newfoundland, but with ever-changing snow conditions, they’re ready to adapt as needed and, most importantly, enjoy the adventure.
One last (important) note …with an estimated 4,000 miles to cover in (hopefully) just three to four weeks, the Guys will be pushing hard every day. We’ve received countless invitations to stop by, visit snowmobile clubs, and connect with great partners. These visits are always a highlight—allowing us to learn from communities and build lasting friendships—but we’ll also be focused on keeping up the pace and covering as much ground as possible. So, if we have to keep a visit brief or ride on by with just a wave, don’t be dismayed. Your encouragement and support fuel our passion for adventure, and we appreciate every bit of it along the way!

Follow along as Paul Dick, Rex Hibbert and Rob Hallstrom ride their Arctic Cat snowmobiles across North America. The first leg of the journey was completed in spring 2023 when they traveled from MN to Alaska, now they plan to head east in 2025!

I am impressed on how these guys do this at their age, I don't think in my prime riding years I would even think such a ride.

Day 1 / Feb 13, 2025
And they’re on their way!

Day1.jpg
The 3 Old Guys set off earlier this morning from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, heading east on their journey.
Their first major stop is the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, Wisconsin, where they’ll spend the weekend celebrating the induction of many friends.
Joining them for this leg of the trip is their good friend (and sponsor), Tom Rowland from Thomas Sno Sports. Tom rode 170 miles yesterday to catch up with the group, and together, they’re making their way across the states today and tomorrow.

This will be the major test for the catalyst chassis. Looking forward to following along! Two of the three machines have doubled up their windshields. In case of one breaking they have a back up. This is old school thinking that they most likely came up with years ago and many copied. All three of these men have been in the industry for decades.

That's a old long cross country racing trick. 50 years back in the day, the windshield material would get cold and easily break to pieces.

Day 1 / Feb 13, evening update
The Guys had a smooth first day on the trail. Most of Day 1’s riding was on railroad grade. The Guys reported that there wasn’t a lot of snow, but there was enough snow.
They met a groomer on the trail and took a moment to flag him down to express their gratitude. The dedication of those who maintain the trail system never goes unnoticed, and we’re always thankful for their hard work.
Tonight, the Guys are resting in Iron River, Wisconsin, and tomorrow, they’ll arrive at the Snowmobile Hall of Fame just in time for the weekend festivities.

I'm sure they have learned in their experienced travels it's better to have a spare just in case. At times it can be brutal without one especially considering the amount of miles they are traveling. Smart planning.
