600 etec plugs and belt

For the 600 e-tec, I think ski-doo recommends to change the plugs once every three years. As Snow Monkey mentioned, they are indexed meaning when they are replaced they have to be pointed in the correct direction.

For the belt, you replace that based on the wear which can vary a lot depending on how you ride the sled.

6,000 or 7,000, indexed plugs, need to be installed properly.

Indexing<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
This is for racers only !!

Indexing refers to a process whereby auxiliary washers of varying thickness are placed under the spark plug's shoulder so that when the spark plug is tightened, the gap will point in the desired direction.
However, without running an engine on a dyno, it is impossible to gauge which type of indexing works best in your engine. While most engines like the spark plug's gap open to the intake valve, there are still other combinations that make more power with the gap pointed toward the exhaust valve.
In any case, engines with indexed spark plugs will typically make only a few more horsepower, typically less than 1% of total engine output. For a 500hp engine, you'd be lucky to get 5hp. While there are exceptions, the bottom line is that without a dyno, gauging success will be difficult.

Spark plugs can be done, I think the clutch side is the hard one. If you can swap a piston on the trail you can change a plug. You do need a special tool to make it go faster. I have two plugs on board just in case. On the doo forums there have only been a few e-techs that have gone down because of a plug issue. The secret to these 600's so far is to let them warm up.

You are still thinking OLD SCHOOL. Indexing plugs on cylinder or head fuel injection system is needed to create a patterned burn within the cylinder. OLD SCHOOL was to have the gap facing the intake side of the cylinder so the burn would start on that side and burn all the way into the exhaust port giving a complete cylinder burn.
