What are people running for clutching and gearing on a 08 700 dragon? I am trying to get some better performance out of my sled and just looking for some advice

I have a 2007 DRAGON 700 that's really well dialed in.

See my TECH TIPS for 600/700/800 CFI's that I moved up to the top for you

sledhead, I replied to your PM. I forgot to tell you, but I have one tooth smaller gear on the top. IIRC stock is 25-41. I have 24-41 now. Sled is faster under acceleration and top speed with the 24T gear in there.

That makes sense, it's a 1.708 ratio

The 2007's come with 23/39 same as the old 600 EDGE's=1.695 Ratio

25-41= 1.64 ratio, better for top end in theory given a long enough distance, slower for acceleration

In theory the smaller top gear should be slower top end. But in reality, the smaller gear is actually faster top end on my sled. The reason is the clutches were not shifting out fully. The motor just couldnt pull that gear.

I had thought about going with the 23-39 gears, but Brock had advised that a bigger bottom gear is generally better for acceleration than a smaller bottom gear. And this way I only needed to buy one gear, use the same chain, and basically achieve the same ratio as 23-39 a whole lot cheaper. I am very satisfied with the set-up.

If this would be my primary sled next yet, I would maybe even try a 23T top gear, but I will be buying a Rush next year, and this sled will be my back-up. I have 7200 very happy miles on it now. My plan was to run it one more year, but after spending some good miles on 4 different Rushes, I just have to have one. They are so awesome.
