72 lynx speedometer

How do I get the speedometer case open, take off front glass. I want to put the working guts of the bottom speedometer into the case, that has good numbers under the glass. 2 small screws on the back release the guts from the housing (case), but I can't see how to get face off. Doesn't seem to unscrew unless I'm just not getting enough twist on it.

Well, if it's like the Polaris version (and it could be), it's crimped on. On mine I had to (very carefully and slowly) bend the crimped edge of the bezel out on the side of the speedometer most of the way around until the bezel and glass can be removed as a single unit.

it sounds tricky but it can be done. Of course it won't be as neat when you bend it back but it's hidden by the dash so it won't be visible. There should be a gasket that keeps moisture out of the face so the crimp doesn't have to be air-tight. If you are still worried about moisture you could use a small amount of sealer when you put it back together.

Not sure if this helps but it's something to look for.
