in my opinion the 900 is a very strong engine when it is set up right. i have a 2005 rmk 900 and love it there are a few cons first off it is heavy but you really notice it. second it vibrates and that is something you cant escape from, third the motor torques around a little bit and causes belts to snap but that can be corrected by adding the slp engine stabilizer kit. the 900 will pull a house down and the engine will last a long time if you do all the up dates. if you are buying it used i would highly recomend sending the engine out to get the big boy bearing update kit done as well.

If it is something you want, then Wintertime and I can walk you through what you need to do to make it a house puller. Snowest forum has massive amounts of very good info on the 05 900 to make it a reliable beast. I have an 06 RMK 755 which is basically the same motor but a bit smaller. The vibration is way over talked about and many ways to deal with it if you want to. Check out snowest discussion forum. you have to join it with a small fee. well worth it for the info on that sled. You can do all the updates and a few extra things for under a grand. First off check your carb boots for cracking, you should pull muffler to get a real good look. that is a major issue with the 05, 06 755's and 900's. I have never heard a sweeter sounding motor than when you add the SLP can to it.

i agree with everything that polarisrider1 says the vibration isnt as bad as what my 700 arctic cat was and i guess i did not read into the whole vibration thing like he has. i really do not notice the vibration. as for the carb boots i replaced mine at the beginging of the season and they cracked after the first ride called up the place i bought them from and they said it was a bad batch and replaced them free of charge and so far so good. i would also recomend doing the slp can sheds weight and gives a great sound. the only major problem i have noticed is the fact that there is no strength in the front bumper i snapped mine lifting the sled up that can be fixed by putting on an aftermarket bumper or figuring out how to brace the current one that is there. i love the motor with its power it puts a smile on my face from ear to ear every time i crack the throttle and i love the chasis very easy to ride in my opinion.
