We all know about the failures of the Chevy 4x4 front diff actuators. Someone told me to use the upgrade electric type, anyone have an opinion? I have a 95 with the 4.3 v6 vortec

I thought it was on the front axle to engage the hubs, but not sure now. I've always had 2w drive trucks till recent. Someone school me

They are on the front diff. Put one in my truck last winter. Believe mine was a 2 wire. Takes a crescent wrench. Ran me bout a hundo at carquest. If its bad it won't engage the 4 wheel drive.

My 2002 GMC 2500HD was hit by lightning a while back. Took out most of the electronics and blew the steel belts out the side wall of two tires. The truck was parked at the time. Just got the 4WD fixed. It took the GMC dealer almost two weeks to figure everything out. New contol module, $550, new encoder motor on the transfer case another $220 and a broken wire. I'm ready for snow now!

Yes the actuator is on the front diff, passenger side on the back side of the axle. Not gonna say the "technical name" that the guys at the dealer used for it, but think of a male dog......... Youll understand once you see the part. lol

Get the part from the dealer, don't get it from a parts store. Little more money but its a better part. Changed one for a friend of mine and 2 months later it was out again. Got mine from the dealer and haven't had an issue in 4 years. (Just clicked on that Advance Auto link, I paid less then that from the dealer.)

It could also be a part on the top of the transfer case. Little screw in sensor.

Does you have push button or stick 4x4 engagement? It could also be the buttons if thats what you have.
