'97 Polaris 700 SKS Heated Shield

So I finally broke down and ordered up a heated shield for my Mossi helmet after reading all the great reviews about them on JD. There are two wires to hook up and after pulling out the meter and looking for a spot to get the required power (7.5-16 volts), I'm having a tough time finding a source. Being its a older sled I don't think there is a prewired plug anywhere like you lucky guys and gals with newer sleds, I was hoping someone could give me a good direction to start looking. Maybe I didn't have the meter on the right setting? I have been watching and reading all the threads with people having the same questions but nothing seems to be clicking for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated whereas I'm hoping to get this done before the big snow. Thanks!

I spliced into the Brown. And Yellow wire. with a few drops of solder. If ya want the plug in to raised up with the hood, then splice somewhere around the headlite. If not splice in elsewhere lower. Doesnt matter which shield wire to brown or yellow. Thats what I did on my 97

Thanks for the info chords. That was going to be my first place to look but I was thinking I woud like to have the plug somewhere near the handlebars. Now after thinking about it, I like your idea of keeping it with the hood. The manufactor of the shied recommends a fuse of 3.5 amps, did you run one on yours?

No fuse. I made the connection on my AC at the headlite (picture) When not using I just tuck the wire into that vent area the wires coming out of and it raises up with the hood. On the Polaris I spliced somewhere lower near the key switch and the shield connecter is not raised w the hood.

Thanks again for the info. I'm going to try and get it done tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes. Merry Christmas.
