98 Vmax XT Wiring Trouble

Just the lost the head light and speedo/tach light on the machine Confirmed that the wiring and connections and harness to the instrument cluster are OK. The machine starts and runs fine...Brake/tail light are also working... Need help with further trouble shooting or finding a website with a wiring diagram.

When you say o.k. do you mean everthing is still connected or that you have juice to the plug??? If you got juice then it is bulbs or plugs....

You need to verify voltage at the harness going to the console. yellow wire is power to the unit, brown should be return. All the guages should have these wires, along with the wire that activates the function of the guage (temp, rpm, etc) The h/l gets its power through the high low switch. The common wire here is the return (ground if you prefer), that feeds all the guages and h/l. I would suspect that is open somewhere. To confirm, try a jumper from any of the brown wire attatchment points at the guages or H/L and run it to a good ground on the motor.
