99 skidoo 500 grand touring starter ?

how do i know if its my starter or something electrical ? checked and charged battery and jumped it with one of those portable battery packs. theres no clicking like a car starter every once in awhile the gear pin trys to pop out . starts fine with a pull. any suggestions thanks

Remove the starter and bench test it with your jumper box. If it works on the bench than your problem is on the sled.
