A different look to the Deadliest Catch?

As of right now, both the Time Bandit and Northwestern will not be part of the next season.

The Discovery Channel is suing the Hillstrand Bro's for breach of contract and Sig is standing behind the Hillstrands by choosing not to be part of this seasons filming.

Rumors are that they all are in negotiations right now to have them all return, but time is running out. King crab season starts Oct 15 and it takes a lot longer than a few hours to prep the boats for filming.

I read that also. Im kind of wondering if it isnt a negotiating tactic by the captains attorneys? I think i remember on a behind the scenes episode were they show the camera crews getting the boat ready to film and they only had 48 hours to get it done. However, these captains were rich before the show so they probably dont need the show. The show isnt going to be the same with out them if it doesnt work out. But i do have a hard time believing the hillstrands NOT wanting to be on tv! They seem to like being in the spot light the most

With Phil gone, and if the Hilstrand boys and the Hanson boys aren't on the show, I don't know if I will watch it. :(

Last week, Sig Hansen announced he would join colleagues Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand and not participate in the next season of Discovery Channel's 'Deadliest Catch.' But now that king crab season is almost upon us, it appears the trio could possibly be in talks to rejoin the show -- at least according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The three crab fishermen decided not to participate in the upcoming season of 'Deadliest Catch' because Discovery is suing the Hillstrand brothers for not completing work on a spinoff show they reportedly agreed to film. The Hillstrands alleged that the $3 million lawsuit would force them to sell their boats. Hansen dropped out of 'Deadliest Catch' to show his support for the brothers.

I read that also! The Hillstrand should have just finished the taping or not agreed to be filmed. Love that show and hopefully both sides can work it out.

Won't miss it!

I'm still going to be watching as there will be other "characters" that come along. I also want to see how Phil's boys do out there on their own.

The DC could pick 2 different boats and it would still be the same show. Another set of characters/same drama. Reality shows are meant to suck the viewer in. A lot of editing, showing only the juicy parts of these peoples lives.
Do these captains actually own these boats or operating them for a larger corp?

Both. The Hansons are several generations into fishing. I suspect they are part of the Hanson clan that fish lobsters on the opposite side of the U.S.

[Gossip] Deadliest Catch Captains May Return To Show After All
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 10.06.2010

Lawsuit will have to be settled quick...

With filming set for next week on the seventh season of Deadliest Catch, stars Capts. Sig Hansen and Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand are still M.I.A. The trio quit the show last week thanks to a $3 million lawsuit Discovery filed against the Hillstrands over a botched spinoff.

Not so fast, though.

HollywoodReporter is saying that the two sides are still in talks and that all three may return just yet. If the lawsuit can be settled by October 15th, when the last of the boats for the show leave Dutch Harbor, then the Hillstrands and Hansen could return to the show.

Deadliest Catch is a huge show for Discovery, and it already lost a star this year with the death of Capt. Phil Harris. Harris' sons return this season, but without the other familiar faces, people could be turned off by the show.

I hope they work this out soon also. What a great show, very addicting watching it seeing these guys bust their rear ends for hours on end without much sleep.

If you like Sig, you will like his book, North By Northwestern. It was a great read with a lot of family history, crab fishing history, etc.

The Hanson's and Hillstrand brothers own their boats. Phil Harris had a partner and together they owned the Cornelia Marie... Keith owns the Wizard. Capt. Bill on the Kodiak is just runs the boat for the owner.

Just announced today , both time bandit and northwestern will be on the show. either a publicity stunt or just a threat by the boats to get discovery to back off.

Good to hear. I see the Hillstrands quite often. I may see them in the next few days if they aren't already in Seattle. Jon and Andy are quite the characters.
