Well, it's official. The voters have spoken, and I got re-elected! Yessir, it was a hard fought campaign with lots of beer purchased, but the final tally was me 51, next two candidates 46 and 44.

Two more years!!!!

There is NO politics like local politics....I have often wondered WHY anyone would want to get into it at all.

Especially here in Door County, people are ruthless when dealing with politics. Just check out what is going on at the county level with the (ex)supervisor. Not sure who to believe.

Yeah, what a mess! To make it harder, he is a buddy of mine.

You're right, not sure who to believe.

I've often asked myself that question! But, I do have an answer. Think of a guy who used to play baseball in high school, maybe college. He grows up, gets out in the workforce, and someone asks him to coach a little league or jv team. Little or no money, but gets to enjoy the game again from a participant's point of view, and can help the youth on his team. He also endures the abuse from the parents and the local newspaper, but all in all, he feels good about what he is doing, and he knows his talents are helping, even though not all results are wins, and not everyone supports him.

That's local politics for me. Like the guy who no longer plays baseball I no longer sit in the corner office of a building in Chicago or Philadelphia. I am a crappy athlete, but I am a good problem solver. This is my way of playing the game as a participant. I know I can help. I know I can build a good factual case for the directions we are taking as a community. Even though not all agree, even though I will again be in the paper this Wed, I think the community is better. Just like the guy with the Little League team...you feel good about it.

dcsnomo - You don't seem corrupt enough to go to far in politics. You need to work on this. Somehow you must become greedy and selfish and start taking money from special interest groups. You could then pass legislation that will somehow line your own pockets. A good place to learn some of this would be to research the last 10 years of Il governmental workings. Good luck.
