A Quiet Lunch @ Bent's

Last Friday took a ride from Boulder to Conover to Land O' Lakes then up thru Watersmeet and back via the Cisco Chain. At the south end of Cisco Lake you follow the barrels up the bank to the road then go back down the other side about a 1/2 mile down. I believe it's called Roddis Rd.
Well, I never really cared to go that route because of the moguls on either side up and down to the road. So thinking it has been pretty cold the last few weeks, it should be solid under the bridge and that was the way to go.
WRONG !!!!! broke through right under the bridge and had to really get on it to make it to the side. The main problem was my wife was following me and she is scared to death of open water but she made it to the other side with no problem. We were heading to Bent's Camp for a nice lunch.
Well, I think the only words spoken by my wife were.
" If you want to kill yourself don't take me with you "
Thank God she loves me but it was A Quiet Lunch @ Bent's.

I noticed that on Sat as we headed north and saw the tracks had broken thru and could not believe someone went thru there. I myself ended up crossing the water for the first time at the "sand cut" where you normally take the short portage just south of the "cut" off of West Bay Lake (just to the West of Mamie). Thing is there was an "iceberg" floating that I saw at the last minute that my buddy hit and got it bobbing in the water and I ended up hitting it pretty good. Needles to say I was a little frazzled, then we skipped the other portage to the north of that and swung east only to see a small quesionable area which we gave a wide berth to but was probaly just slush but we did not want to find out.
