I believe that accident happened on Merril Lake just northwest of the Forest Lake Country store which is a popular shortcut to get to Bents Camp. I heard the rider broke his arm. Also due to the accident the town chairman decided to berm up access to the lake which IMO was not cool since now you have to ride the road (Forest Lake) to get to the trail that comes out on the other side of the lake. I as well as a lot of others have been using that lake for a long time and I think I have been on the trail once since it was open just to check for blow-downs.

And how does the town chairman have the rights to shut down the trail? I can see a trail boss, or club chairman..etc...

Kind of a gray area, Merril Lake was never the trail (as far as I remember) but I'm not sure who it belongs to (will have to check my plat book) so the club really has no say as they have access west of the lake (the actual trail)...now for the kicker the town chairman was the trail boss last year...some politicing going on here for sure

yep..all the way to Bents and the road out to the T intersection where you either go to presque isle or boulder I think it is Trail 7 & 5, been a while since I've been down there due to it being a lot of road and sometimes is plowed all the way and during trail work days we normally do not get that way.

The trail is fairly new I believe? 5-7 years old maybe..I know the lake was the way to Bents coming from Boulder even when Archdales was there..Thats all we ever took. I use the trail now.

In all the years I've been going to Bents or coming from Bents , I've taken that trail once, always shoot the lake, most times we stop and either play around on it or do some racing their.
