Ace 600

Looking or feedback. I m looking at a used 2019 ACE 600. I know these are lower HP, non performance sleds. Would these be similar to say a 550 fan and or 500 liquid in engine performance? I am not much of a speed guy other than cruising across a lake. Basically looking for a good solid trail sled.

Thank you

The 600 ace is more like 60 horsepower and the Doo 550 fan is about 53 hp so a bit more grunt than the 550 fanner. The 900 ace non-turbo is around 90 hp for additional reference.

All of the previous posts are spot on. I had a Doo 550 fan and moved to the 900 Ace (non-turbo) MXZ. Both Ace motors are super quiet and get amazing gas mileage. Rock solid motor. If speed is an issue then you want the bigger Ace or a different sled.

I have two 600 Aces (2016/2017) that I bought heavily used for my young sons. They each have over 10,000 miles on them (hard rental fleet miles) and they both just keep running without issue! The 60hp is enough in "sport" mode, but I sense they are itching for more. I told them that when they have their own money they can buy whatever they want! I think ill keep these two forever for friends and family when they visit!

I wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again.

I bought the first ACE 600 touring sleds in 2011 and have 6000 miles on it with no problem. BEST sled ever!

Can someone provide me a link to a place that has a good deal carbides for my sled (ebay, etc)? Local dealer wants $90 for a 6 inch pair and I need two pairs...Each ski has two carbides on a pilot ski.

Great utility sled.
But, I liken it to riding a 5 year old Polaris 500 Sportsman ATV..kinda boring after 45 mph. Much slower than 5 year old Ski-Doo 600 sport that get up to mph rather quickly.
Maybe look at the revamped 2021 Doo 600 Sport..only $8,200 new.

I would verify that the outer carbides need to be replaced because they are on the outer edge of ski the don’t usually wear out. It that is the case you only need 1 set and replace just the center ones. Google up snow-stuff they have a good carbides at decent prices or go big and get bergstrom triple points.

600 is right. Only need to change the inside ones. When their done, move them to the outside and get new ones for the center. I run 6" in center and still have the original 4" on the outside. Best to go big with bergsrom triples. They last forever and well worth the money.

So is the speed issue just top end? Will these accelerate with some speed and then top out t say 70ish?

Thanks

Depending on the size of the rider you should hit 70. You'll notice more low-end torque than a 2 stroke but a lesser top speed. If you need more than 70 mph then you should consider the 900.

IMO the 550 fan is faster than the 600 ACE. We have had both. They do make a great kids sled, but if you are 200# I think you will be soon tired of the lack of power if you intend to ride alot. If you only go twisty woods riding, or use it for ice fishing, the 600ACE would probably do it. For any railroad grades, open lakes and fields, you will soon want the 900. My wifes 900ACE tops out at about 80 with me on it..... she has noted having a hard time keeping up on the UP grades with the rest of our group, pretty much has to hold it to the bars for miles on end.....6400 miles on the 900ACE and it still runs and rides great though.....

80 mph? It sounds as if your 900 has clutch issues?

No, no clutch issues, that is about all it has ever had, long hardpack road might eek out a little more, but not much. Have ridden others with about the same performance, this is not a 900 Turbo....

I weigh 230, that's why I ride an 850 with fatboy power....... hahaha
