Air Box pre-filter material

Anybody no a cheap substitute I can use for the pre filter on an air box? I really do not want to spend any money on this old sled but would like to have something.

Had my buddy over with his sled in the cave for some rehab. About 9:00 last night my wife comes walking out and catches him holding this in his hands ( LOL ) I had to bail us out so I said " The dog did it "...... this is the heavy " pet " screen stuff, we cut it up and epoxied it in place worked great. Another option was the foam filter from the " wet vac ". I never use it but wanted to save it just incase. Nice filter media , IMO , but might be thick.
