A few pictures from Monday's show. I was able to play hooky for an hour or so and made a bee-line to Boeing Plaza. The plaza is located near the main runways, the tower and some permanent buildings/hangars. It's where they place the largest planes and those that will attract the most attention.
How "O'hare" became the name of the airport in Chicago. In 1949, the City named O'Hare Airport to honor Edward "Butch" O'Hare, the U.S. Navy's first flying ace and Medal of Honor recipient in World War II. Eddie didn't survive the war but the last time I checked, the airport is still there.
This is the same model Hellcat that Eddie flew in the Pacific theater.
They have the replica of this plane in one of the terminals in Chicago.
Fast forward to present day, this is the Navy & Marines latest and greatest, the F35, complete with Armed Guards.
Look but don't touch!
Another piece of equipment you wouldn't want to mess with is the Army's Apache Helicopter.
or the Blackhawk.
Not sure of the designation of this one, I happened to look up to see that smiling face and decided on a picture.
And on my way home, Goodyear dropped in for a visit. There's actually two Blimps at the show this year.
