Time to shelter your stock & bond investments as the market is TANKING today. Looks like a huge correction & more to come as the world is in an investment mess that will take time to unwind. Get to work on your stock alternatives ASAP & protect 401Ks while you can. Good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!

How much can it go down before the automatic shut down kicks in? Tomorrow will be even worse.

10% 1 day decline & there is a pause or closure but the market has declined I think 8 out of the last 9 days & today is huge! We have severe world market declines so act now or you are a sitting duck to lose big IMO. Really is not a safe haven worldwide just have to limit your exposure or go to cash. If in stocks for the next 30 years ride it out but not my objective.

I understand this isn't a good situation for many, but I'm lucky that I'm still relatively young and probably have 30 years until I retire. I'm just over 90% in stocks right now and, in a selfish way, I hope they go lower so I can continue to buy low. Best of luck to everyone, however. Tough times, for sure.

Too late if you weren't out a couple of weeks ago. Just like 3 years ago, most of us will ride it all the way to the bottom. We sure could use an inspirational speech from the president right now...

I suspect that B.O. and the fools in congress that "averted" a default of the US Government Debt are directly responsible for the market's reaction today.

What a sorry state of affairs....

The GOOD news is, oil is falling like a rock....FINALLY. Gasoline has fallen more than 6 percent so far today....and that's a good thing.

I have always had my BEST luck....and that's all it really is, by BUYING on these panic days and then selling when the market takes off like a bird.

There does NOT seem to be rhyme nor reason for the market these days, and don't be surprised that some yo-yo in Uganda, makes a bigger than normal profit in growing asparagus, and the market will come roaring right back.

But truthfully, I think Vegas odds are better than the stock market right now unless you bought GOLD...... Frankly the last 9 months in the market, didn't make much sense, moving higher with little to move it there except some hype by some of the car companies and a few other businesses that seem to be easily manipulated by accountants and bookkeepers.

But hey....whadoIknow???

I don't think we will see bottom for awhile so buy stocks on the way down or wait for lower prices. I don't think the market is oversold yet & as much as I would like to blame it all on the USA government budget side show the focus is on the world economy which is bleak at best. Europe has serious bank & debt problems & needs a TARP like bank solution but more complicted that USA solution with so many countries. By the way gold & oil took a dive too so where do you go? Going to cash is investment protection but does not grow no good for me. Bonds traditionally do well when stocks tank & some good yields too. Different strokes for different folks & God bless the Boomers taking another hit. Good luck to all!

Bonds will be OK.

Look at long term investments right now. The bond market is doing well which, in my business, is good!

Bad stock martket = good bond market which = lower long term interest rates like Mortgages!

I'm sure the prices at the pump will not go down as fast but when the markets come back up I would bet the prices at the pump will go up immediately.

I just about had it with all this crap...

At 48 I have finally averted a loss ??? Too good to be true. A while back after reflecting on all the market crashes since the 80's... ( whitewater- S&L, 2000, 2008 ect....) it became apparent that I'm not smart enough " to play with those boys " the wall street financial guys. We pulled all our money out of stocks and went with low risk, low yeild long term capital appreciation funds. Yes last time I checked we only made $40 on the 400k we have saved. BUT>>>>>>>> I can't afford to risk any more .... We have lost well over 200K in the last decade and I had to stop risking what little we had to retire on.

There seems to be a vicous cycle in the market, and every once in a while it gets wiped out and only hurts the little guy like myself. If you have 100 million and you lose 50 your still OK ( at least I could make it on 1/2 ). But if you have 600k-700k and it get wiped out down to 400k ????

We need some kind of "change" in this country but not the kind that "B"-ody "O"-dor is giving us.

Always the President is used as the whooping post. He is not the king. We are peasents of the entire government. A President can not fix anything. Stop buying chinese crap at Walmart would be a start. Buy american brands and put a neighbor to work. Even if parts made here or there and assembled here is better than solely overseas. We need to stop the bleeding of our money to China, japan, etc. Then borrowing it back from them. They will buy our country, no shots fired. American greed at all levels created this mess, the me-me atitude and to heck with the rest.

Yes I have to agree.... BO is just a puppet .... the entire government is corrupt along with our corporate leaders....Capitalism works if you have leaders and a society ( business & government ) with morals, honor & integrity. What we have lost is the family values or morals & beliefs that this country was founded on.

I feel that we will become like Europe , economically insignificant.
