Another Togwotee question for those who stayed there

I'm getting some strange answers from the person answering the phone regarding questions about the "all-inclusive" package at Togwotee. Here's my question: The website says that the all-inclusive package includes guide service on all days between your arrival date and checkout date. So, if you arrive on a Monday and check out on a Thursday, you would get guide service on Tuesday and Wednesday. But, if you only stay one night, you do get guide service for one day. So it seems that for multiple day stays, you lose out on one day of guide service. I'm assuming the guy I talked to on the phone was wrong, either that or this is a strange policy. Seems to me that you should get one day of guide service for each night you pay for the full package.

If you have stayed there before, can you let me know how it works? Thanks.

Never been but have heard others talking about getting this worked out. They'll bill you for the "package price" but you're not really getting the package. Just tell them you want two "regular" nights without the dinner and/or guide, etc. I'm sure someone will chime in who knows this for sure... I think I heard Pat talk about it.

Thanks. I was hoping something was wrong with the info I was provided. The way I understand it, if you book a 4 night stay you will only get 3 days of guides. But if you book 4 separate reservations for 4 consecutive days, you would get 4 days of guides. Maybe each guy in our group should book a different night!

You said tell them you want "regular" nights...do you mean just schedule it this way and then add the guides later?

I think you can get the "package" for the nights before you want to ride and then the "regular" rate for the nights you don't need it. I haven't been there (want to) so don't know for sure.... just hearsay.

yep hearsay.....you pay one extra day!!! the "cabin only' dont work.......I have tried to twist it every way you can it comes out the same....if you like to ride "with a guide" for 5 days you will need to get 6 days at the lodge.......most people fly into Togwotee then the lodge picks them up at airport then their "package" starts at social hr then off to dinner and after dinner its bed time........the first days package includes all that and Breakfast and guide in the am.......Thats day 1!!!!!!Day 2 starts at social hr then dinner,bed,breakfast,guide.......thats day 2.......same day 3.......then your fourth day you would come in from riding"day3 guide" and have day 4 dinner and social hr off to bed and up in am for a ride to airport....that is 4 days on "the package"..........I wish they would revamp it for the guys who drive 1100 miles with there own sleds...........we drive that far for the snow and guide not the food or lodge.........would pay 3 days riding then room only for 4 nights would be the way we do it....crazy

Make sure you call out there B4 you leave to book a guide with the snomobile rental shop. We were given some grief about not doing that as we didn't know we had to. We got basically "oh, you didn't call ahead to book your guide?" we said we didn't know we had to, they said it was clear to call 14 days prior. I guess if they were all booked up we'd have been SOL. We had Jack for a day and he was a blast.

My son and I have stayed at TML once a year for 5 years, just got back from trip #5. We drive from MN, arrive Fri night, ride Sat, Sun, Mon, and Tues. We have always been on "package", so the guide is included, just give them a tip! On Tues before riding we check out of room. Then ride all day tues, and then leave at end of day and start our drive back to MN. We have then stayed 4 nights, rode 4 days and that is what we have paid for, never been a problem. As far as guides, recommend anyone of them. We have had Noah, Carter, Jeff, Justin and Brent over the years, all very good. For me, it is nice not having to worry about where we are where we are going or how to get back, plus learning from them and hearing stories of the experiences the guides have been a part of. I have come to learn that without the guides at TML, TML would not be what it is for me!

Your letting your "undies" bunch. Don't play the games as sugested, regular nights, pkg. nights, my gosh? You will be so dead tired after 2 days of riding you could care less how they work it. Whats your plan? You going to ride your sled all day on the last day then fly out that night or drive home? yea right. Tog. will give you a guide for ea. day you stay there if you want. But you got to sleep and travel on the front end or the back end of the trip. I have had 5 days with a guide with a 5 night pkg. but all I had to do was climb into Mom's truck and go to sleep at the end of the day while they drove me home. If you feel that you are getting shorted then drink an extra drink or 2 at Happy hour. Please tip the guides. I have rode with Noah, Carter, Justin, Brent and I think a Jason and Chad. Jason was a guy out of the kitchen I rounded up on his day off don't think he was an actual guide but we had fun. And My good friend Matt Binion who is still recovering from leg surgery. 1/2 the time on a 5 day tripI take the middle day off and could care less about that I paid for a guide. It is called recovery day. Go into Jackson hit the Bars and shops. Just let your guide know at happy hr. the night before so he isn't looking for you in the morning. Remember this is not like any riding you have done before. If you smoke, you won't last the whole trip and would love an oxygen bottle over a guide anyways.

I called them yesterday also. I understood it the correct way. I want to stay 3 nights and ride 2 days. My question is; is breakfast included on the day you check out?

Also, if you arrive and immediately want to ride, I can't imagine that's good. I've been in the Rocky Mountains and it takes at least a day or two if not more to get used to breathing. That altitude is killer on the lungs if you're not used to it!

Usually by the time you get to the Lodge, if you are flying, you have missed the 9:00 departure time. If your departure time from Jackson Hole coming back is before 6-7:00 you probably can get there in time because the rides usually get done about 4:00 and you are about 45 minutes from the airport. If there is something you want , such as an extra day of riding that is outside the package, just ask. They will charge you but they are accommodating. Watch your bill. When I was checking out, the total was not close to what I anticipated. They did make it right.

You can ride the same day you get there. You don't feel the altitude until you start digging out or throwing the sled around.

Polarice, yes, breakfast is included on your checkout day. Checkout is not until 11 a.m. As m8man stated above, if your going with the all inclusive pkg, make arraingments with the rental shop 14 day's prior to your arrival to make arraingments for your guide. We were fortunate to get a guide as we were not aware of that, nonetheless, we made our reservations in Sept & were given specific info on all of the detail except that portion, also, they screwed up our reservation at check in. Long story, but, they made it the way it was given us upon making the reservation & securing our deposit. Apparently the reservation call was routed to Az as there is nobody at the Lodge Desk in Sept. Serious lack of Corporate communication. You will be happy with the Pkg, you will get your money's worth & the folks there are very accomodating.-Mezz

Man is the an understatement! I called the direct front desk line, not the "1-800" Aramark corporate line and the TML front desk lady stated to me at the end of my conversion with her "I'll send you over to the guide/rental shop now so you can book the guide." I have called the front desk every time now to make the reservations.

If anyone is going and has an extra spot let me know. Been wanting to do Tog for a while now.

Had to cancel a trip earlier due to an injury (not me). Air fare from Madison with one stop was $411.00. Thought I would go "spur of the moment" last week and airfare was now $575.00 with two stops. If you can avoid the college kids answering the TML phone in AZ you will be better off. I think that is where the communication breakdown originated from in my case. Everything worked out and had a blast
