Its the same everywhere. In the past few years the following have happened in Vilas and Oneida County: Runnings Bar closed and torn down to sell as a lake front lot. Huh Bar closed. Bogarts just got new owners they are remodeling. Sankeys for sale. Pine Isle was recently sold and the new owners pretty much gave up in less than a year and are now leasing the location to the head cook, doubt he will make it to summer. Burnt Bridge for sale, everything on North Twin is for sale (Great Escape, Grapes Twin Haven and the other one?) Sunset Grill for sale, the golf course and bar on Big Stone for sale. Tipsy Turtle (only open in the summer but a great place, right in town and you can get there by boat) for sale. Hiawatha Supper Club for sale. Braywood for sale...the list goes on and on. Its not so bad when they change owners, for eaxample the new owners of 12 Pines are way better than the prior owner and I think they are hear for the long hall. What really sucks is when they just shut down or get torn down. I sure miss Runnings, Jim Runnings was a great guy and loved to BS about sleds. I miss Lloyd and his family at the Huh Bar, that place was a dump but the niceset people ever. I could go on and on but I am getting sad and need to get back to work.
