Any experience with the 600 ACE 4-stroke?

I am looking for feedback from those that have ridden the 600 ACE. I am not looking for a muscle machine. I currently have a 550f and know that is still the range I will be in but just curious what type of upgrade it would be. Also, if anyone one has heard of a turbo for these motors yet?

The sled would be a Renegade Sport.

Turbo puts a lot of strain on the engine so not sure that is a good idea unless over built from get go. ACE should last a lot longer than the 2s fan 4s always do. I would go with the ACE gets so much better gas milage than fan.

May want to check out the forums on Dootalk.com and search for 600ace.

Here's some more discussion on the 600 ACE:
http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forums/420-4-tec/491134-600-ace.html

Would be a more reliable powerplant than a 2-stroke, basically just gas and go.

Check around in your area, maybe a dealer has one you could test drive.

May consider a used 1200? May be able to get one for not much more than the 600 ACE?

Last year was their first year out, I haven't rode one but have talked with some owners on the trail. A very quiet engine and nice mileage, easily over 20 miles per gallon. Performance would be similiar to the 550F with a top end around 70 or so. The ACE is the little brother to the 1200 and has many of the same engineering designs, just in a smaller package.

i have the 1200 and intially thought about the ace for fuel effiency and lite weight. I love the 1200. I am sure the ace is just the same version so you would be happy with that choice.

I got a consistent 15 miles per gallon burning regular unleaded last season with the 1200. I believe that BRP claims 28 miles per gallon for the ACE but I wonder if that's a real-world number. Still, anywhere in the 20's would be nice.

Hoosier Just like gary pointed out that is basically what i got as well. Theres no way the ace gets 28 like he pointed out but around 20-22 yea i could see that in real world riding. The 1200 is pretty much twice the motor and you are only give up 5-8 miles per gallon on average.

If all your after is jumping into the four stroke class economically and with good fuel economy id go with the 600 ace. I decided too make the jump from a 600 2s to the 1200 because i was ready for something bigger then i had previously.

What kind of mileage do you get out of the 1200?
Every 1200 have I ridden or ridden with gets 15mpg average. A little disappointing for me since I ride Yam 150 & got the same the day I rode with 130 Doo. Ace would do a lot better if willing to give up HP. Don't know how Ace is going to work out in rental fleets at 40 degrees or low snow conditions but many renting Ace now.

I rode a 600 ACE last year. Real world mid-upper 20's for MPG, but performance wise, I would rate it more like a 340 single carb 2S...MAYBE a 440 class fanner. NFW does this sled have the performance of the 550F or a 500 liquid. DO NOT compare this motor to the 1200...there is NO comparison. Motor is super quiet and clutch engagement is VERY low which I like. Top speed? = 65 maybe on perfect conditions.

If you want a 0-35 MPH trail cruzer that gets 25 mpg this is a good motor for you. But when your friends/wife/girlfriend wind up there sleds across the lake and you're 5 minutes behind, you might be sorry you bought it.

Can you tell I don't like the motor?? LOL!!!

i rented one last year up in tomahawk.it was a fun sled got 26 mpg. raced it across lake alice kept up with my polaris 440 lc.i would say 70-75 tops the 440 was 75-80 tops.long and short is i ordered 2012 ace to get 26 and to go 70 that works for me.i sold my 700 xcsp i'm sure i'm going to miss that 100mph and more ,but how many time can i go above 80 when i ride.most of my riding is 30-70 and to know i can go thru 1 tank of gas for the whole weekend thats great fun. but like some people says the ace is'nt for everybody. know we need snow

I too rented it in tomahawk last year and got 28 mpg . I would say it was "close" to the 05 500 classic in performance.
