This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Thursday, December 15, 2016.
Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and in fair condition.
You can now cross under the Portage Lift Bridge. The mat is not down yet.
Trail 122 is closed for logging. You can use Trail 124 to get to Gay.
Any trail usage should be done with extreme caution as there are wet spots, rocks, stumps, branches, and other hazards that have not been identified.
Please remember to watch out for the groomers when your're out on the trails. They have the right away.
The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for riders' safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

I rode from Hancock to Copper Harbor and back today. I would say the trails were very good on the way up. We took the 130 Eagle Harbor loop and there was only one old track and ungroomed. Very fun. We had lunch at the Mariner and the food was excellent. They were happy in Copper Harbor for the early snow. There is also a small mini mart type of gas station in Copper Harbor now. They were very friendly. Check them out on Facebook at Copper Harbor fuel stop. From Copper Harbor we took 134 to 132 good trails but nothing was groomed yet still plenty of snow. When we got onto 133 trails were starting to be groomed but a lLOT of mud holes. Still good snow. We stopped at the Gay bar and there was still a lot of snow. From there we had to take 124 back up to Phoenix and then back down 3 due to 122 being closed for logging. Then back down to Hancock. Over all the trails were in very good condition. The bridge is also down so it can be crossed. Heading south tomorrow.

More snow everyday. Do you know the feeling you have when you are the first one riding on fresh groomed trails and then you come up onto the groomer. Usually you know the trail is going to be bad after you pass him. NOT. I have been riding for 3 days and have not hit a bad trail. Thanks to all those for the hard work on the trails. It is well worth the extra $3 dollars.

We didn't hit a bad trail from mass city heading north - all good. lots of snow and most were groomed. We rode to hancock but no further north. Agree with machzdoo, even not currently groomed trails are good!
