I have it set to regenerate at 2am...it seems to regenerate almost everyday based on how much water is being used in the house.

If you are on a well, and you did not change out the anode rod in the water heater for one specifically for well water...that could do the rotten egg smell.

You shouldnt be regening every day. If you are, how much salt are you going through? It would be alot.
The anode would'nt make the cold smell though.

You will need to have your water tested to get the PPM of the iron, if you have an excessive amount your softner may not be able to handle the removal and you may need to consider the purchase of a iron filter which looks, acts, installs and cost similar to a softner but goes inline before it. The big box hardware stores may not carry these but your smaller ones should a well or water specialty place will. Also adding a product called Iron Out to your brine tank will help and you can buy salt with it already in it.

The salt I use is called "red out"...I seen some filter they sell at home depot in duluth that spose to help with iron and was only like $60 so i might add that inline also before it goes to the softner.

The $60 dollar cartidge or low cost filters are designed for sediment and other things in the water, they will remove some iron but the disposable filter cartridge will need to be replaced often. The iron filter that I am talking about looks just like a water softner as it has a resin tank that contains a mineral that ionicly attracts the iron, manganese and sulfur smell out of the water then also similar to a softner the unit will regenerate or cleanse every few nights or so. The big box hardware stores may be able to order these but a professional plumbing supply house or well supply of your Ace hardware type of places can get or will have these. It should cost in the $500 to $700 or so range. These units only use water for back flushing and electricity for the timer and minimum maintenance so over time they are very economical verses filter cartridges and rusty water damage and cleaning issues.
