I blame myself for this ridiculously hot weather. My wife and I bought a couple of used motorbikes to ride around this summer. We've only ridden them a few times so far.
They're a blast to ride when its not 99 degrees. I promise I wont buy a new snowmobile this fall.

Ride pretty much daily. Got as bike event to go to tonight even. It got up to 111 degrees on the boat yesterday, so a putz around is refreshing.

Haven't been out much yet this year (only 300 miles on). With both boys in baseball, it takes up a ton of time. Certainly not complaining, it's just the way it is at this time of my life.

A few of us are gonna get out for a ride tonite. Calling for near 100 degrees here in Central Wisconsin today. Need to condition myself a bit. Taking a bike trip Aug. 14th-20th to Kentucky to run the Bourbon Trail and even head a bit further south to Lynchburg Tennessee to tour Jack Daniels. This heat we're experiencing now is gonna be commonplace for our run down that way.

Hydration and sunblock will be critical to say the least.

I'm a believer in riding with the proper gear, and when it's this hot, it's TOO hot. I've been riding my recliner the last few days. This crap will pass soon, then it's go time.

Wednesday night the grand kids in Madison called and asked me to come down(125 miles trip) to go swimming in their pool.
So I got up yesterday to 90 degree sunny weather and decided to go.
I called them and said I was on my way.
I left Kiel at 90+ and made one stop in Beaver Dam for a Gatoraid.
When I rounded Madison, it was 106.
Well, I got to the house and they were in the pool already.
A 25 by 50 foot pool with a deep well of 10 feet and the water temp was 94 degrees!!
Ready to jump in to pool when I got a phone call.
Because my wife works a 3rd shift job at Sargento Cheese, she didn't think or know that I took the Trike.
Asked if I was crazy for taking the trike and I told her we have driven in 100 degree weather many times.
Told her I had to go swimming and would call her when I was leaving.
After 3 hurs of swimming and horsing around with the kids, I had enough.
Shower, got dressed, said my good byes, thank you's and hit the rode.
Got on thefreeway and hit the temp reading WOW 111 degrees.
Rode to BD again and stopped at McD's for 2 bottles of water.
Drank 1 1/2 and down the road.
Made one stop at FDL for the other half bottle of water and made it home.
Had a safe and fun day.
One thing that freaked me out was that on the way home I saw 3 places in the road where the concrete exploded.
Also went over 1 cracked that had some chunks but missed them.

Had four people dressed like this to ride a 90 mile ride in 94 degree temps. And she had full body armor on underneath.

Sorry I can't make it this year. Riding the Mackinaw bridge grate was a trip last year (3 times). Take walking shoes for the island, best to rent a bike on tthe island. Fgsact and Olaf would enjoy a tandem. Lol

^^Words to live by on a bike.^^
Wow, hope everything is OK with your son and his wife.

Finally went for a ride today, temps in the 70s, very nice.
Also nice not having the hand grips melt to my hands.

I've put on over 3400 miles so far this summer. Just did 220 this past Sunday in WI under 95* super sunny weather. Get out and ride!! You don't need to wait for snow to ride a cycle. You get wet when you shower, so what's the problem?

No problem. I've ridden over 1200 miles this summer in the heat, on my bicycle. I ride the motorcycle to cool down.
Just be nice if it was a little cooler, just sayin.;)

Not sure how many mile exactly in the heat (all summer) but out and about doing estimates today and another 120-130 miles on the bike. I average 6400 miles a summer if I had to guess.

Not 6500? Not 6000? Not 6371? I'm pretty sure you're not guessing.

I took how long I had the bike and divided it by the miles currently on it. 09 was the big year riding to Sturgis and back along with the regular riding around here. 2010 was the Passport tour with 27 HD dealer stops, that added up fast. 2011 was Sturgis again but trailered out and back but rode much more out west. Heck Olaf you should have more than me this year with your UP adventure. I would ride everyday if I didn't have to truck around a wet saw.
