Anyone use neck curains?

I switched sleds with a lower windshield and get so much wind in my HJC helmet that my eyes water
any one used those neck curtains or something to keep air out?
I know, switch to moto and goggles..... but short of buying another helmet.....

I would go with at least a mid-height windshield. The cold goes right through my helmet and jacket with those low ones.

You mean like these?

Never ride without one, and have several of different weights and lengths. Saves the helmet from hair grease too. If you aren't riding with one of these on, then you will feel the cold more. If you dress warmly and keep the wind off of everything, with good windbreak material, then the windshield won't matter much. Still, I prefer a good windshield and laugh when I see the no windshield sleds they sell today. Keeping the wind off, is key to a fun ride particularly when it is very cold. Top to bottom it will make a big difference. Layer up.....

As moose said, I even ride with a second one across my neck over my chin on the really cold days. Helps block any air from getting up under the helmet.

i ride with a "baclava" or whatever they are called but they have some that hook to the helmet, i used to have one for my road bike, never used one on the sled
i have a stock windshield to replace the one i wrecked when i rolled my sled saturday but its not much taller than the old one and they dont protect the hands much either

jonesin - are you using the nose piece in your HJC helmet and do you have it adjusted and formed to your nose? You should get very little air to the area of your eyes if you have the proper sized helmet and the nose piece installed.

Agree with the other guys. I just recently went to the HJC helmet with heated shield and I've now gone to a thin helmet liner (skull cap) and a thin neck gaiter.

i have this thing that has two head sized holes on each end that you put your baclava on then i put this over my head and it fits around over my head around my neck.
goes from my chin down to my thoat. then i zip my coat up. fits around the whole neck area front and back, keeps all cold air out. it's actully too warm and don't alway need to use it. you can find it at any dealer, i think i got mine at fleet farm 15 years ago.

timo - sounds like a fleece neck gaiter. You can buy them now in microfleece (thinner material). My fleece gaiter is too warm too so I've gone this route. Also less bulk around the neck so jacket closes easier.

yes mine is a neck gaiter type thing. my is not micro fleece as it is a thicker than that. its probably a combo of cotton and rayon or something.
i can get my jacket zipped but it is tight. i could see how the micro fleece being thinner would be nice.

I do use the nose piece, although the foam has wore off that fits against the face
I am planning on adding the foam piece maybe that goes between the shield and the helmet on top, that should help

We bought these things called apple warmers back in the day and they sound kinda like what you're looking for, they're wind proof and attach around the bottom of the helmet with velcro and tuck into your coat keeping all the air out. They're one of the best gadget things we ever bought. We just attached it to Bears helmet today

No they do not, I tried to look them up too and didn't find them either. If you can find something like them you'd be very happy. I'll take a picture later and post it
