First off. Thank you Arctic Cat and Test Inc. for the test rides. I rode the XF 1100 Sno Pro and then the XF 1100 LXR. This was my first time on a four stroke. The engine braking took some time to get use to. As indicated in ride reports from magazine reports the engine has similar power to a 600 two stroke.

I rode the Sno Pro first. This sled steered like no other Cat I have ever been on (I am a Cat guy, I have 2 today). The 1.5" track hooked up well. It actually pulled the skis off of the ground on a groomed trail with good traction. They took us down a rough trail and machine handled the rough stuff great. I did bottom out on one large bump, but I am a larger then normal guy (6'4" and 315lbs). The Sno Pros rear suspension was too a little stiff for even me. The little windshield was pointless to have when it was 10º out. It could of used some hand guards.

The LXR was next. I was surprised when my butt was getting warm. I can see the seat warmer as a plus for some people, but not for me. The riser was a little shorter then the sno pro and it was too short for me. The windshield was a little larger and kept the wind off my gloves. The suspension was much softer and probably a better fit for most.

If I was to buy a sled today I'd buy the sno pro 800 and try to soften up the rear suspension. I'd need some time on a four stroke before buying one (unless I got a deal on a demo four stroke). I'd really like to try one in the powder too.

I just learned about this event late yesterday and it came only thru word of mouth by a friend. I live local, yet if I didn't receive the call, I would never have heard or known this was happening. I plan on attending tomorrow (Saturday 1/21). It seems the advanced advertising for this Demo event was much too light... even a seach on the local Mining Gazette newspaper website did not generate any hits for news articles.

I'm very grateful for Arctic Cat, Test Inc and Wildlife Refuge Cabins for making this happen. In the past, I've participated in Polaris factory organized Demo events and they have all been a lot of fun, but never an Arctic Cat event. I wish the sled makers would come to the Houghton/Keweenaw area and hold a Demo ride event every year... or perhaps every-other-year. This NEEDS to happen a lot more often. In the past couple of model years, I've noticed some of the recent Arctic Cat model appearances and like the newer stream-lined look, but I've never had a chance to climb on one for a ride... who knows... maybe this fanatical gear-head wil "fall in love" and add another to his harem of snowmobiles... just sayin'...... a man can never have too many sleds and I'm always looking for another worthy gas tank to feed!

I am looking forward to being there tomorrow. I'd like to test ride as many models as time and availability permit.
