Just as the title states. Are mirror extensions required while towing in the state of Michigan? I am towing a 22' r-vision trailer with a gmc envoy.

Thanks

Not that I am aware of, but, the better question would be, why would you not want to have clear rear vision while towing a trailer of that length? Definitely a hindrance without them, especially in traffic & when backing up. There are some relatively nice looking mirror extensions available that look like factory mirrors, easy to slide on when needed and off when not, check out www.cipamirrors.com. -Mezz

I didn't see anything in the "Law" about the "mirrors", nonetheless, to me, it is pretty risky to tow any trailer without proper line of vision.-Mezz

I live in Michigan and got a $75.00 ticket two years ago for no mirror ext. It is the law.
Not that I would trailer without proper mirrors, I would like to see the "Law" that pertains to mirror extensions. I have been through quite a bit of the trailering laws & there simply is nothing that specifically addresses mirror extensions much less a requirement for trailering mirrors. There are laws pertaining to lighting, chaining, reflectors, brakes for trailers over 3,000 lb, stop lights, clearance lights, side marker lights etc.., however, nothing about mirrors. Again, to me it's a no brainer, you tow a trailer, have the proper mirrors to allow you as the operator to safely tow a trailer, however, no written State law. If there is a written law, please show me because I missed it.-Mezz
