Any cover that changes the color of your headlights in Michigan is illegal. Although the leds sound cool it will for sure be another reason for dnr to single you out. Last year dnr had three guys with green helmet mohawks and led lights pulled over and the ticket pad was out.

Doo you want them for your headlight or just some accent lighting? I'm guessing accent? I would think they would be OK.

I've seen a fair share of riders in the MQT area with them. I'd say throw a quick-kill switch on your dash so you can hit them off if you see DNR. At least we know you don't need a caps lock key ;)

Did they have the LEDs on there helmets? I alway thought that was a good idea the LEDs on the helmet.
Green Mohawks such a good idea

beakjones...most likely if you see the DNR, they have also seen you, lol.

phaser- it is pretty much the same with a car...anything other than factory is illegal

pretty sure led's are legal for off road use. As long as the lights don't flash or project forward (colored headlights)
That being said I'am sure they can still write you up for something and let you prove them wrong. I put 1300 miles on last year in Mi,Wi, with no problems. I do have a rocker switch on the dash to turn them off.

I was looking to do what eagle1 did... run some led's around the tunnel and stuff like that. But didnt wanna deal with DNR all winter long.. I would think as long as the lights dont flash or anything it would be smart to have extra lighting in the trails at nite but what do i know im just a average joe trying to make my sled look sweeet with some neons or led lights.SNOW MONKEY i wouldnt be looking to change the head lights or cover them at all cuz i know a tinted cover or anything like that is illegal to do.. Just wanted to add some accent lighting and make my machine stand out in a crowd and get some heads turned when i fly bye.

True that all the car kits say for off road use only. Of course, there may be some hidden, useless regulation that makes it illegal to do on a sled. I would just go for it and take my chances with the DNR. Then again, Im in MQT county and I've honestly seen two DNR guys in the past 4 years.

Pretty cool Eagle1. I put some under my running boards of a Poo XC600. Didn't last very long, I didn't have a battery to run them off of...burnt out the transformers. Wis DNR never bothered me, and you sure will get the looks

Bought mine from, http://www.britelites.net/
$120 worth of lights maybe $60 worth of wiring, switches, connectors protective tubing. Led's on the side are a flush (flat) strip, and held up very well. Lights on the inside I attached using velcro so you can remove them if you need to take parts off of something.
There is a thread on TotallYamaha where I posted pics of my project, others too. I could find it if you want. Worse part was soldering 20 ga. wire, what a pain.
I think you should go for it, even if you only turn them on at your favorite watering hole.
