Argh, there are bugs in my new house!

Argh, look what I found today in the windowsill of my new house. Anyone know what they are? I think they may have gotten in through those cracks in the drywall. Hopefully they are minor......

Can't really tell from the pic's but the last one looks like it's redish in color if it is I would guess it is what we call a spider mite they live in the root balls of plants.

Hmmmm, ok I will do some searches online and see if I can find more information.

Wags - I live in Streamwood, so these must be pretty common in our area.

ARGH. I hate bugs!

Here is a close-up. I have ruled out baby box elders, because they look different. The closest thing I can find on the web is spider mites. Any other thoughts? Do these things bite?

No plants in the house. We did just have that warm 60 degree weather over the weekend. Maybe that's why they are looking to get in?

Yep I've seen them before, I've had a 3 season room for about 6 years now and have seen them a few times out there.

I've lived in Bartlett since 1989 and have seen them on both properties i've owned here since I moved out this way.

I sent the pic to a landscaper buddy of mine to see if he can ID the little booger for us but I think its a spider mite. I treat the outside of the house each spring with several bug sprays and powders to keep the creepy crawlers out as much as possible. All in all it works good except for the dam box elders, those little ****s seem to only die off by spraying them with a soapy solution. At least the house is cleaned with the mixture I use..lol...

As soon as my buddy responds I post the findings and possible solution.

Son of a..... my brother just let one crawl onto his hand and it jumped off like a frickin stunt man. Do spider mites jump?

I think I may have to call the Orkin man tomorrow. Will they do an ID for cheap, without treating anything?

Dan,

I really appreciate your help on this one. I'll wait on Orkin til we hear from your buddy. Many thanks in advance.....

Those things are follicle mites ... yea a buddy had 1 bore a hole in his head, they enter thru the hair follicle and drill down into your cerebral cortex and then you don't want to snowmobile anymore. ( just kidding )
