Arrested for Non-Compliance

And so it begins. A lady in Oshkosh is arrested for non-compliance when she refused to close her Dog Grooming business. The Irony is, later the same day the governor announces Curb Side drop offs for Dog Grooming is permitted. If you're on BookFace here is the video of the arrest. https://www.facebook.com/marissa.peters1/videos/10215642337563599/

Otherwise here's the story from Green Bay television.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – Oshkosh Police say a business owner was taken into custody Monday after repeatedly violating Governor Tony Evers’ Safer At Home order.

Authorities say they received a call from the Winnebago County Health Department on Friday, April 24, advising that the Dog Depot in the 1200 block of South Main Street was open and in violation of the Safer At Home order.

A sergeant from the Oshkosh Police Department went to the Dog Depot and spoke with the owner, advising her that the County Health Department determined the business is not essential and that it needed to close immediately. Police say she was warned several times and told why she needed to close.

The owner reportedly said she disagrees with the Winnebago County Health Department, that she would not comply with the Safer At Home order, and that she would not close her store.

Oshkosh Police say they consulted with the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office and they agreed the business owner was violating the Safer At Home order.

“Due to her disregard and the multiple warnings she received, the sergeant advised the business owner that he was going to refer her to the District Attorney’s Office for the charge of violating the Governor’s Orders and that each day that her business continued to stay open would result in another charge,” Oshkosh Police said in a release.

On Monday, Oshkosh Police officers made contact with the business owner who again had her business open.

Police say the woman again refused to comply with the Safer At Home order. Oshkosh Police say they continued to consult with the District Attorney’s Office and she was then taken into custody for once again violating the Governor’s Orders.

“The Oshkosh Police Department understands that this is a new, challenging, and difficult situation that we are all dealing with during this pandemic,” Oshkosh Police said in the release. “We wish that we weren’t all going through these challenging times.”

Authorities say the Winnebago County Health Department and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services are tasked with determining which businesses are essential or non-essential. Law enforcement is then advised on which businesses are in violation.

Oshkosh Police say they’ve responded to 122 different calls for service since March 17 at numerous locations in the city ranging from playgrounds, residences, and businesses that have dealt with violations of the Safer At Home order. Police say all were warned and no arrests had to be made for any visitors or residences in the city.

“Our goal is always voluntary compliance. Filing charges is always our last resort,” Oshkosh Police said.

Crazy times we're living in folks, can't wait to see what happens next.

If I can't get a haircut, nether can a dog!

Our local dog groomer was doing pick up and delivery - still "banned" but she would drive in the back garage of her business with the dog so as not to be seen.

Mean while in Wausau, I guess its ok for the media to have their hair done professionally yet...…

As a result of the shameful video of that anti constitutional debacle the dead head gov lifted restrictions on dog grooming and a few other businesses today.

This has gone waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy to FN far for this guy. Arrested? I hope there is more to this story than just running her business because if she is arrested just for being open for business that city and police force better get SUED TO HIGH FREAKING HEAVEN. This is America. How many people have fought and died for the rights of that lady to be open for business?? Boy it makes my blood boil!! If the constitution can be put on hold now what kind of precedent are we setting???

I checked with Google Maps and her business is just under 2 miles from the nearest Walmart Supercenter, two and a half miles to Lowes and Menards, all open for business. Just sayin'.

not sure if this same phenomenon exists in the fox valley but I'd say that 5-10 customers an hour in our BB store, bring there dogs in with them....let that sink in when thinking about an owner of a pet grooming business gets arrested for running her business.

We are going to run out of lawyers when this is over.

Never said I didn't agree with you. Just my business is running as per usual. Well other than the sheet of plywood for social distancing. I coulda never imagined in this country that this would happen. Never. It is a sad day.

Our customers are seeing their prices plummet and places to go with their animals shutter. Not a day goes by that a farmer doesn't ask if we know of anyone that needs beef or pork. Gave away half a pig to wifes sister because I have another pig on the way. Don't know if you saw the ad from the president of Tyson foods yesterday or not. Pretty bleak picture. There are going to be alot of people figuring out that their food doesn't come from Kwik Trip. It comes from the farmers!!! Gonna be a long difficult road ahead in that regard.

actually you did strongly disagree and insult my opinion on this subject 2-3 weeks ago...

so these meat processing workers have been performing their jobs for months without a test or a health problem for the most part?...and there products went in the coolers throughout this country....and Now it's a problem????. What about last cold and flu season, and all the others before that when their jobs went on without interruption?

We should have had 100,000 ppl at the state capitol last friday.

I normally take issue with you. I think I coined the name "douchebuilder" I am glad your able to remember everything that happens. I have bigger problems than home Depot to worry about. So before you call me fathead again go to work for yourself and figure all that out. Rather than gloat about how busy your corporate employer is!! Douchebuilder!!

oh come on guys. We've all been doing so good throughout this mess. Some of us who don't always see eye to eye have been agreeing on this nonsense. This is now all about our fundamental rights as American citizens. We need to stand together and not take pot shots at each other.

Can't we all just get along? :rolleyes3:

Don't really care what you think a me and my point of bringing up my employer is that in reality, very little SD and quarantine is happening so why are we messing up everyone's lives? I want you and everyone else to resume their normal productive day to day existence so they can enjoy their huge *** houses and show garages while they polish their toys....even a fathead should be able to understand that idea....LOL

Perhaps it's time for some civil disobedience,on a specified day we all go out and do what we want.Tear down the crime scene tape and play at the park or go fishing or have a yard party etc. There are not enough cops to arrest us all.

Pretty sad when going fishing is considered civil disobedience. As I've been saying...this is nuts

I live backed up to an elementary school, with the high school stadium across the parking lot. Kids have been jumping the stadium fence since day one to jog around the track, play catch, kick a ball, etc. Every once in a while they are asked to jump back over the fence and leave.

Same with the crime scene tape on the play ground (Which is blown all over the place from the wind). I can tell they haven't been using the swings as much though, a couple kids were on them last night and damn were they squeaky!!

Are the dogs you speak of "Pets" or "emotional support animals"?
Pets can be banned but not "ESA's", try being a landlord..gotta dance to keep animals out.
