Since I dont get to hardly ever ride my 02 Viper in the snow I was thinking about buying the parts to convert to asphalt for the summer to drag race it when we take the car to the track. Ive been told stock it will run in the 10's and could be done for 1200 to 1500 bucks. So if anyone has done this or knows who to talk to about this please comment back. THANKS

Depends on where and what you want to run. Check with your local track first on their specific tech needs. Different race groups require specific components (tracks, skis, bearings, etc..)and that can be spendy. I have built a few from Race to Fun and the least I have spent is $1500 for a local track bracket racer. Have fun with it. It is the funnest thing on asphalt.

I built this one a couple years ago. Bracket racing. Has elec start and reverse so anyone can drive it!!! I haven't used it much and probably should sell it.

Doo_dr…That was the exact sled that I was going to build next to retire my POL XLT 600sp altho didn’t the F3 800 come stock with a single pipe? I wanted to get in the 120s as the mid 100s was getting old. Is that F3 basically still stock and what times did you run with it? My XLT has been sitting in the shead for a few years now as I had to get out of it awhile back as my overtime dropped out and we had to make a choice of racing with the IHRA or use our new boat and to top it off I had just bought a new trailer just for racing and used that once. A race season with the IHRA really killed our recreation time but I would not have done it any differently as we had fun.

The pic of the F3 was the last season on the snow and I was getting a baseline if what it would do, but never made it to the asphalt. I’m surprised the pic of the XLT is the only one I have on my work computer.

Just like the others had said, check with the track you plane to run at. Rt66 almost did not let me run since I needed a "w" bracket on the flap but Union Grove had no issue with that. I ended up running straight water in my sled and had to fabbed up a cool-down kit. Definitealy a lot of fun but it does take some work and dedication to keep at it.

It's a bone stock FIII with mach Z pipes. It is pretty fast but not quick. I'm locked on gearing because of the reverse gear. My 700 IS ran 128mph in Union Grove. That was a few years ago before the kids. I love the CK platform. No twist and the stock suspension ,lowered, transfers great on asphalt. It is alot of fun to run 10's on asphalt. I built a cool down kit with a large cooler and a 12 water transfer pump ($145). A bag of ice for the beer (after the races) and 10 bags of ice for the sled!!!

OK the juices are flowing. I pulled the sled out and will be getting it ready for the summer. Did anyone run last year on Minnesota or western Wisconsin tracks? I'd rather run with a few sleds than be by myself. Rock Falls (EC WI) or Grove Creek (Grove Creek MN) are the only two I know of.

I used to run my 98 SRX on the asphalt and ran 10.5 @ 120 mph, it was my trail sled in the winter and then I converted to asphalt in the summers. I used the stock skid the 1st year and a 15 wide track and the best I got was 10.90 then switched to a Wahl Bros. 10.5 wide asphalt suspension and a 10.5 wide track and ran consistent 10.5's. If I set another sled up I will go with a Prostock Inc. or ProLine suspension instead of a Wahl, nothing wrong with the Wahl I just think the others are a little better, but the price shows it. You can set up your stock skid to run the 10.5 wide track by removing and relocating some of the wheels and adding some extra sets from someone like Wahl.

If anyone is interested a buddy of mine has his asphalt sled for sale, it's a 95 Storm with a 1000cc HTG motor with 200+ hp., has a Wahl 10.5 susp. and track. It has very little time on the asphalt and has ran 9.37 @ 135 mph with a terrible 60 ft. time so there's alot left in it with some tuning, I would guess it will run low 9's when set up. He also has a 2 pc. leather suit that could probly be bought if interested. $3000.00 obo.
If interested P.M. me and I will get you his info.
