I just bought a 1999 polaris xc 500 sp. my bro tells me that his back starts to hurt after 20 min of riding and im taller then him. Im 6'5 and I was wondering if they make a back rest for a single and some other acc that would make me be not in pain the next day. any suggestions or website?

It will help alot if you replace the rear torsion springs. My guess is that the ones on there now are shot and being 6'5 you should have the heavy springs. Also have the shocks rebuilt that helps to.Taller handle bars will help to.The back rests will make your back hurt more when the back of the sled rebounds up and slams into your back.

Yep, use the kidney belt. I bet it has much more to do with the suspension of the sled. The newer models accomodate tall riders much better, and have better suspension travel (longer). I'd guess that most guys (or gals) of a smaller stature than yourself would have similar back issues with a '99 XC

I usually am not "sitting" on the seat, but there are backrests available for all sleds out there somewhere. I had a '92 SKS 2-up with the backrest, and it really worked wonders riding down the rail grades......I was able to push back against it and it supported me very well.

go with bar risers to start, i had a 96 ski doo formula 3 last year and my back would start to hurt after a little while. I made my own bar risers about 3 inch and they really made a difference for me, I didn't have to lean forward to grab the bars. I am 6'3 and just going up 3 inches made a big difference

I have one I use on my 800 polaris for long trips other wise I take it off. I have the M-10 but still need some support. The backrest was a good investment because it is completely adjustable for all your needs.

ok riser block it is. I was looking at getting 3 inches but am i going to have to extend the throttle and brake cables? From the initial look i can adjust the handle bars forward and back. but will this be enough? or should i go with a 2 inch block and a 1 inch pivoting block?
