Baraga County passed PA 240, as did all the counties in the Mi-TRALE ATV Network.

The law posted is from PA 240.

What I think choc_lab was asking was the specific road to Eric's campground...not what the law is.

Sorry, but I don't know where Eric's campground is. The rule of thumb on the PA 240 will always come down to the fact that no ATV is allowed on the shoulder or the ROW of any State or Federal Highway.

Its on the gravel/dirt road (Erics Rd) from Skanee to Big Bay, far from any State/Federal Hwy's.

Big Eric's (Baraga County) Campground on Big Eric's Rd at the Big Erics' bridge over East Branch Huron River.

PS-There are no shoulders on that road unless you count tree's as that, its a narrow twisty/curvy gravel/dirt road with no sight distance (seasonal?) with a lot of logging truck traffic.

we went up to lanse this last weekend and stopped the sheriff and asked what the rules are for the county he told us stay as far right as you can on the paved nonstate or fed roads and drive nice and you will be ok. gravel and dirt are ok . Dnr went by us when we were on the shoulder of skanee road and waved to us so it must be ok.The riding was great. You could get lost in a hurry with all the backroads.

I said the campground was county but its state.

East and north of L'Anse, at the end of Skanee Road, is a rustic state forest campground at Big Eric's Bridge and Falls.<!-/quote-!>

fyi

The land up there was owned by Ford Motor Company (some still is), where they had many logging camps and hauled the logs to his mill in Alberta on his own railroad. Henry Ford owned just about everything from US41 North to Lake Superior. He gave the State over 400 ft of ROW to construct US-41 from Alberta to Bovine. 200 ft for road and another 100 ft on each side for nature buffer.
