Baraga/Lanse

Anyone over there this weekend? We are leaving Monday Noonish and are going to unload somewhere North of Crystal Falls ans Backpack for a couple nights and want to stay in Baraga and head to Big Bay and East one day .Then Wednesday to the West. Was basically wondering if its still ok to get through to Lanse, I understand its not going to be great through Baraga/Lanse but wondering if anyone knows for sure how bad it is, Thanks in advance.

We rode to Lanse from Lando last week right before the rain hit. Our destination was the Cozy on trail 8 in Nestoria for lunch but had to divert from 8 back to 15n due to a plowed logging rode on 8 was down to mud and water. 15 was great from Sidnaw and the Lanse in town trail was freshly groomed all the way to the Hilltop. I would think 14 to Big Bay would be good but the rain hit the next 2days made everything wet for sure. The snow flash froze Friday night so wet stuff set up hard. The sun is a trail killer now and much of 14 runs thru plowed logging roads if any thing like 8 you will have excellent groomed trails but plowed logging road sections will be mud and wet if the sun is out. Good luck take the good with the bad in Spring just be prepared with a plan B due to melt.

We Went through Lanse Friday around noon. Pretty bare, but we did get through without the sleds getting too warm. They were getting snow but not enough to help. some areas to the east were getting pretty wet with a few big holes that got larger when we came back through a few hours later.

Stayed in Baraga Fri and Sat Night. Was ok yet, Lanse to BB was very nice Sunday. Bare Roads and Lots. I had to drop the Wheels a few times. We unloaded east of Lanse Sunday and SW of Baraga on Saturday so we did not ride thru either Town. Expect your Sled to be pretty muddy when your done. If I were you I would not Backpack anymore in Mi. I would head for Ontario and go North out of Searchmont to WAWA or Chapleau if you want to Backpack. Any Logging area or Plowed Road is all Mud and the Banks are so big you will be riding in the Mud. The Trails we rode were very good except 12 between Silver Mountain and Mass City.
