Baraga to Copper...109 closure question

Saddlebagging on Saturday. 1st night in Baraga then headed to Copper. Normally took 109 up but I hear it is closed. Ideas on trails Baraga to Twin Lakes area? Not very excited about ditch banging the nontrail to Houghton...

Buy a map that has the new #174 trail ....some of the new maps do not have it. Do not remember if if was a state map or not..Rode that trail (174) 2 weeks ago and it was SWEET .

Dragonwannabe,
How was your ride out of Baraga? Looking to head there in a week or so. Would be coming from Iron River if we can, then Big Bay then back.

It was ok. A little rougher than we have seen in past years but honestly I think we just had bad timing. Hadn't been groomed recently. They have plenty of snow and we have probably just been really spoiled in previous years. I think you will be fine. Tons of snow.

From what direction can you get there?

As of last week, the trails (109, 12, 174) represented on the above map are accurate. The Bear Den outlook can be accessed coming north on 109 from the 8/15 intersection, or from the west as trail 12 turns into trail 109. I don't have the Bear Den outlook shown on that screenshot, but it's closer to the old trail 12 / trail 109 intersection.

Edit: Hmmm, not sure why that picture isn't showing up when I add it. Anyways, if you go to the MDNR snowmobile trail website and look at the Houghton Co. pdf map, like I said that map accurately represents trails 109, 12, and 174 in southern Houghton Coounty.
