I will be riding this weekend. First time this year. Getting out to ride has been few and far between with the new kid born. I managed to get a "hall pass" for this weekend to ride. Never been to wakefield or the western UP. What are some good loops for a full days worth of riding? Thanks.

Wakefield is land locked now, the loops are gone unless you head east to Bergland or West to Hurley. We gave up on this area once the trails started closing. We drove extra hour north 2 weeks ago and it was well worth it.

depending on how fast you ride you can take 2 to watersmeet then up to bruce crossing to bergland and back or go farther north then back to bergland. go west to hurley down to mercer to presque isle to marinesco and back to wakefield

It would be worth trailering 18 more miles to Bergland and heading north and east from there.

? No the loops are not gone they just have changed route a couple miles North before Wakefield in Ramsay. Then the new route brings you through both ski resorts Blackjack and Indianhead both have live music and Indianhead has other things to do like hot tub and pool. I like it better now that it doesnt cut through that guys property that closed the trail across his land just West of Wakefield. ...Then you can either take the North route to Lake Gogebic/Bergland or
South to Mariensco, then Lake Gogebic. Things to do? Well you could stop at Baker falls on the way down to Blackjack Mountain.(just off trail to the East of Blackjack Mountain see Google Earth) Then head Northeast towards Bergland, then North to the Porcupine Mountains, up to Houghton and back South towards Watersmeet then East back to Wakefield. That's a decent trip.
