Battery in Polaris Fusion - do I need it?

I think I'm going to need a new battery for next season in my 06 Fusion 600. My question is, do I even need one? I bought the sled used and wouldn't have paid for e-start if I bought it new. I don't mind pull starting it, but I'm wondering if it will run ok or at all without the battery. I don't really care about the weight or anything, but it seems like it's not worth the hassle of having to maintain the battery.

You don't need the battery. It only runs the starter. I had an 06 fusion. no battery. they are carbed. And none of the Poo's are in need of a battery, even if they are CFI.

Get rid of the junk battery and buy a gell cell. They last for years and don't need the maint. that the old "put water in" type batteries did.

Lots of places on the web sell them....good thing to get these in all your equipment and stop worrying about it.

Mine sit for up to 6 months and start right up...they don't lose charge like the others and will cycle many more times....not sure why but worth the few extra dollars they cost.

i do not know if you need the battery i have a 2005 rmk 900 efi and i do not have a battery.

You are wrong! Your battery is wired in the wiring harness. It is nothing more than a rechargable AA battery. check it out. When you get it back together you will see on the instrument cluster a battery level indicator.

My 06 RMK 755 EFI has a Battery and needs it for the fuel pump. It is not a standard Sled battery such as the Doo sdi's have it is much smaller. But back to the question, if you have a carbed Pol. and do not care about elec. start remove battery and lead wires and you will be fine. Poaris went to this laim hard to replace inline battery on the EFI models in the Fusion and the 06 755 and 900 models I know for sure.

Polarisrider1 i might be mistaken but for some reason i thought that the battery was just for the dash like traveler asked. Does that battery do both the dash and the ignition on the sled.

Don't yah love guys who toss the owners manual in the corner and never read it? When you buy a sled, sit down, turn the tv off...and read...lots of good stuff in there and YOU always LEARN stuff.

I don't know pwolfe - how much work is it to pull the estart out of there and how much is it worth? I don't have any issues with having estart, just don't want to deal with the battery. I think the battery was basically shot when I bought the sled...
