Batting average

In the meteorology world, what is considered a good average as far as being "right" on forecasts? If you keep track of that sort of thing. There would have to be some tolerances allowed I would think. Just curious.

Keeping your job I guess is the purest measurement!

In all reality, I do not keep score. Not sure how I would. For exapmple if I forecast 8" of snow and we get 7", or a high of 23 and we hit 25, were those blown forecasts?

I just try to produce the best forecast I can every time and learn from the past, but not dwell on it.
