Anyone using a other than OEM for this sled? Only getting about 1000 miles on one belt, but this may be average. Can't seem to find anything other than the OEM. Thanks

I normally don't waiver from OEM but I did pick up a Carlisle Ultramax " XS 821" as a spare. I did get about 2K on the first 2 belts the 3rd belt went 1400 but this limited life is due to the dealer not aligning my motor correctly. It blew @ 150 miles after they replaced all my hose clamps. ( a story for another day ) ! I didn't run it with the XS 821 but it looks like a knoble belt. Seems to be similar to the BRP 383. I don't know about the compound in the belt ( hard / soft ect ) but BRP has a couple of different belt grades of that size ( I believe ) the OEM numbers escape me at this time but you could do a search on " doo talk ".

My .02

Go with the Carlisle XS 821 belt. It will last a lot longer than the OEM belt. And doo a proper break-in also!

Oh by the way, the Carlise XS 821 will be cheaper than the OEM belt if you look around!

I almost bought an 800 Ski Doo and through my research was told to install an aftermarket braket to reinforce the clutch tower. Evidently the clutch towers flex under load with 800s causing premautre belt failure. Plenty of info on dootalk.com. I personally replace OEM belts with aftermarket because it costs me half as much, and have not seen any noticeable difference in performance or life.

Yes, there is a lot of talk about the clutch tower flexing, and I don't notice it on mine or any of the other 800's that ride with me. I beat the crap out of mine, and I hook up hard with it being a Renegade with a 1 3/4 track and 2 teeth drop on the top gear! I have had zero issues. I have no problem catwalking and pulling the skies at 60 mph! I also jump anything in sight. I would think that would really stress the clutch tower if it had a problem! Also, if there was an issue there would be a recall. I'm not saying nobody has had a problem with it breaking, but the numbers of problems are very small, very low percentage.

I do have a tower brace on my 800. I have went through 2 belts in about 5000 miles. Most of the problems are alignment. I do have an aftermarket belt on it right now. Xs 821 but if you look on ebay you can buy the skidoo belts for about $65.
