belt question

Is there a site that compares belt MFR #'s to cross reference what can go on my sled. A friend gave me some extra belts and I'm not sure if they will work. For a 2005 Ski Doo MXZ Trail.

on it currently: 417 300 197

Have 2 of these: 140-4748U3

Thanks!

The 417 300 197 Bombardier # crosses to a 140-4352U4, dimensions for the 140-4352U4 are ......44 7/16" X 1 33/64"

The 140-4748U4 is for a Arctic Cat (maybe others), the dimensions for the 140-4748U4 are...........48 1/4" X 1 29/64"

So the answer to your question is no.

With proper storage, normal shelf life is seven years. The quality of a Carlisle belt is not considered to change significantly within seven years when stored properly under normal conditions. Normal conditions can be defined as temperature below 85°F and relative humidity of 70% or less with no exposure to direct sunlight. Beyond seven years, assuming normal storage, a decrease in service life of approximately 10% per year can be expected. For belts not stored under “normal” conditions, the actual reduction in shelf life is difficult to measure due to lack of precise data and number of variables involved. When belts are stored under abnormal conditions, conservatism is recommended in estimating shelf life.

All Carlisle belts have a 4 digit number to identify when they were manufactured. The first 2 numbers indicate the week the belt was produced and the last 2 numbers identify the year. For example, 2716 means the belt was manufactured during the 27th week of 2016.

Thank you. Tracker

you welcome.....what I do is once the belt reaches 3500 miles or so.....this is provided you broke in the Kevlar thread on the belt core like that film properly....properly being key here....just have a spare in sled.....and you can tell when imminent implosion is due to occur before you get to chicken feathers and damage.....your sled 1st bucks a tad a take offs....then you get TURBO POWER.....turbo feeling only lasts maybe 15 seconds then all he!! breaks loose.... literally.....try to recognize this and stop....swap belts....I think I have gotten some belts to 5500 miles or rough hard WOT usage before implosion....look at it now....hows it look....pop the cover and take the new belt and lay it on top of old belt....usually old one will be about 1/8 inch or more thinner....this is when the turbo effect will be close at hand depending on how hard ya drive.....I am aboot 80% WOT off trail and can get them to last aboot a 1000 miles after this.....but I might do 700 miles in one trip so implosion is near and faster for me...well anyhows that's a guideline to go by....good luck....and carterizing that Kevlar belt when new is SUPER IMPORTANTE for longevity and durability
