On my06 X Fire the belt is slipping onder hevey load. On a flat road I can pin it no problem, hill climbing it starts to slip. The primary spring has about 4400 miles. The belt width is ok but has about 1500 miles on it.

Can't speak to the integrity of the spring, but 1) faces clean ? 2) some unwanted " duff " getting in somewhere ? Most of the slipping problems I have had were when I was in the duff and had a side panel not fastened correctly or we cracked a panel and the good stuff got in that way. Just a thought.

once a belt starts to slip a little they can get glazed on the sides. clean the clutch faces w/ a scotch brite pad, and if you want to milk the belt, lightly scuff sand the sides. Best bet is to change the belt. It does sound like your getting snow in there some how. After you notice it slipping, open it up and see if it is wet by the clutches, from melted snow. This is part of the reason you shouldnt do water crossings, if the clutches get wet, you sink!
