He has a helper in the shop, and they should be all caught up by this weekend. I also got the full back story on what was causing the delays. He ordered all of his carbide steel back in July, and it was supposed to be at his shop by the first week of November at the latest. It didn't arrive until mid December, and there is a global shortage of carbide steel due to the large increases in oil & gas drilling going on. Not only is carbide much harder to find, but the price has gone up 30%, and will probably go higher. Ouch.
Bottom line; he's on top of it and should be caught up and ready to take new orders by next week. He still has the phone off the hook most of the time, and understands his customers' frustration, but he's going as fast as he can. He also brought up the point that having somebody else answer the phone doesn't really work out well, because everybody that calls wants to talk to him anyways.
