I normally hate these kind of posts, but we're considering heading up this weekend to ride, and it's seems hard to figure out where to go. Normally we start a little North of Eagle River and head to the UP if conditions aren't good in Wisconsin. Leaving from south suburbs of Chicago Friday afternoon and open to anywhere within 6-8 hours of there...Eagle River, Mass City, Houghton, Gogebic, Price County, Paradise area, etc. Did anywhere not get hit as hard by the warm-up and still have quite a bit of snow? We're not very picky but don't want to overheat either...
Best bet for where to ride this weekend, from NW Wis to anywhere in UP

Any roaded trail is shot in ER area without fresh snow. I walked out on Trail 17 from roads in Phelps area & trail base frozen solid in 2 areas I checked today ....need scratchers for lube. Just 2 inches of snow would get us rocking again but not forecasted.
If warms up I would go to the WUPMI snowbelts ride the soft stuff but not get caught in temp transitions or trails with water floods via ice dams. Lots of trail base in Vilas just need some freshy on top. I'm parked but NOT done yet still hoping for some new snow.
