Best Carbide to an 09 renegade 800 that has 96 studs?

Chilly,
This is a tough one. Most on the doo forums are running way more than 84. The manufacture will only warranty 84 installed by the dealer. Most on the site threw the baby out with the bath water and go big. If you are concerned about your single ply track I would be careful. There is a pattern that builds from the 84 with double backers you can install if the track has 84 holes to start. The problem of overstudding the single ply on the 800 are claims of the track ballooning at high speeds and reduction of top end speed. If it was my 800 I would leave it alone for the season if you are still under warranty. The 800 has alot of power and if you spin her on rough ice or a gravel bed you can have a tear out. I am running sharp 4inch carbides up front with 84 down the center on my 600 09 doo. This set up is working great and is alot of fun to ride. The rear breaks free just enough to make the turns really quick and smooth. If you have not found the thread it is under xp chassis in doo talk.

Carbides

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think your question is,: what/how much carbide to run on a sled that is picked w/96 studs. I'm sure that if your an "average/aggressive" trail rider 6" of carbide is ok and 8" is more than enough.

I run 96 picks down the middle. I have the precision dual carbide skis and I run one 6" and one 4" carbide on each ski. I can't remeber exactly, but I think the 6" is in the inside. Works pretty good for me.

Chilly,

One option ,if you haven't already done this, is to take the stock carbide from the the center of the ski and drill out the outside of the ski and put it there and then put a good quality 6" up to 8" carbide in the center, like Bergstrom Triple points. I have a Renegade Backcountry with a 1-3/4" lug track (no studs) and have 6" Bergstrom Triple Points in the center and moved the stock 4" carbide to the outside. It handles like a dream. Good luck.
