What is the best GPS for all uses. I just received a Tom Tom for Christmas and I am not certain if it will be of benefit to me while I am off road.

I use a Garmin nuvi. I have a tank bag with a map pouch that I put it in to protect it. Mine has a card slot in it, so I purchased a SD card with all the maps on it from www.sledgps.com I have not used it yet on the trail as I just recently received the card with the snow trails on it. That website tells you what gps units are compatible with their SD cards. I can't speak for the tomtom. Never used one.

I use a Garmin 60csx with VVmapping http://www.vvmapping.com/ Mini SD Card on my sled and ATV. I bought both the Snowmobile and ORV trail version with both map books. I highly recommend this mapping system for Michigan.

I also use a Garmin c330 for the car (The VVmapping SD Card also works in the c330 for 4 wheeling) .

If you are looking for one unit that will work for all your vehicles, Car, Bike, ATV and Snowmobile, check out the Garmin Zumo series. They were designed for use on a motorcycle and are waterproof, vibration proof, and most importantly, the touch screen works with gloves on. It comes with a mount for the bike/atv/snowmobile and another mount (quick release suction cup) for the car. Also has built in bluetooth, MPS player and room for a digital card for expanded memory. 4" touch screen. I have even used mine on my jet ski in the summer. I am more than happy with mine. alot easier to glance at and read than my little rino 530 screen.
