Best Helmet?

I am looking at getting a new helmet. Debating going with a full face or helmet with goggles. I have never rode with helmet and goggles, but have read great things about the 509 Evolution and Sinnister Goggles. I want to make sure I am warm enough riding trails in cold temps.

Also, alot of good reviews on the Ski Doo BV2S. I have rode with a Modular, but the chin area is small for me.

What is the experience?

Hands down its the Ski Doo BV2s. I'm a polaris guy but have been using ski doo helmets since the Modular came out. The modular was a bit tight for me as well which is why I moved on to the BV2s and have never looked back. They are worth every penny!

You will get a ton of opinions on this, it has been discussed a few times.

I have a HJC helmet and Scott goggles an they are very good for me. Never have they fogged up and I love the vision you get.
About $200 for the pair, new.

If you are mainly an trail rider and do ride in the very cold, then most definitely a modular. Open face/goggles are nice for when you are in deep powder and/or sweating a lot, as they are less prone to fogging. But on the trail in cold weather they are likely to case frost bite as you can have a very thin area that the goggles and helmet do not protect. Even a paper thin area of exposure will cause big problems. 509's are nice though. I prefer the aviator, very nice field of vision with them.

Just bought a SkiDoo xc-3 open face. best open face helmet i have ever owned. amazing breath box in it and has a little air pump button to pump up little air sacs under your cheek pads for better fit. Plus the plain black model is only $160!! looks good with any brand sled and clothing!!!

I just went through the same decision, ended up buying the 509 helmet with Sinister Goggles, and I am a trail rider. I agree, you will definitely feel more air, but I use a balaclava with good coverage, have had no issues with frostbite, and have been out in very negative temps riding this year.

Also, this past weekend we were riding and everyone was fogging and icing up - modulars, electric shields, etc. Well, everyone except me that is. My goggles were completely clear.

I do think they're a bit more of a hassle than a full-face or modular helmet, because you have the helmet and goggles to put on, take off, keep track of. But so far, I think I made the right decision.

X3 worse case of frost bite wearing goggles on trail didn't know who that guy was in bathroom with me with black eyes them realized that was me!!!! BRP mod works best for me BVS2 would be my current choice for trails. Lots of good helmets but I would go with sure thing.
