Best route to Big Bay from Watersmeet?

You can take trail 2 to 107, then 8 to Sidnaw to trail 15, to L'Anse, then trail 14 to Big Bay. Another option is to take 2 to 15, which is a little more woods riding. Both ways are nice rides.Trail 107 is a lot of forest road.

Trail 15 North from Trail 2 is very thin and not worth riding as of last week. they have only received a inch or two of snow since then so I don't expect it to be in any better shape. I turned around and got off the trail after about 10 miles. 107 from Trail 2 up to trail 8 is way nicer and has more snow. 14 from L'Anse to Big Bay is many people's favorite trail including mine.

Looking at the MSA Trail reports, I would stay away from Trail 8 thru Nestoria. Seems the Baraga Club has not groomed their end completely yet and the Moose Country report is not very good either. Last year the 8 Trail was horrible around Nestoria. I think your only option is up thru Sidnaw and Lanse and I suppose Lanse is a little Bare as usual.

A week and a half ago L'Anse was not bare. Plenty of snow. Seeing JD's forecast it appears it can only get better. I agree L'Anse does tend to be thin on snow many years, but not so far this year. Trail 8 in the area you mentioned is very rocky and needs a ton of snow to make a difference. Maybe after next week, but who knows. I always avoid it if possible.
